Through the foster care initiative we are equipping churches to engage in foster care and providing support for children and families.
There are over 400,000 children in U.S. foster care.
Religion that God out Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 1:27 (NIV)
Foster Care Sunday is a movement calling the Church to rise up and live out the heart of God for vulnerable children and families. With thousands of children in Iowa’s foster care system and thousands of churches across the state, the need is great—but so is the opportunity. This day is about more than awareness—it’s about action, equipping churches to engage, raising up foster families, and wrapping around those in need. Together, we can reflect James 1:27 and show children they are not forgotten.
An informational meeting will be provided following the Foster Care Sunday service. At this meeting, interested families will receive additional education and personal interaction with licensing organization and foster parents. Your church can host a 10-week training class for families that are interested in becoming trained and licensed foster parents. Churches can also host HHS approved continuing education classes.
